The Kawasaki Z650 was a motorcycle made by Kawasaki from 1976 through 1983. It had an engine displacement of 652 cc featuring a double overhead camshaft. The gear box was a five speed. The Z650 was introduced to the trade in 1976 and was very popular. 64 bhp (48 kW) was claimed with a dry weight of only 465 lb (211 kg), making a top speed of nearly 120 mph (190 km/h) possible. But more importantly, this new model handled like no other Kawasaki. For once all the available power could be used in relative safety. The Z650 had the agility of a 500 with the performance of a 750, and was considered by many to be the best Kawasaki so far.
At Pheonix we have a superb example of the KZ650 on show. Want to see a real Kawasaki classic. Then visit us at Tong Park. |

The GS1000 proved that the Japanese could build a big, fast four cylinder motorcycle that actually handled, something Kawasaki never quite managed with the fast, but loose handling Z1. It likewise inherited the Kawasaki's stout nature, and the two motorcycles were destined to meet head to head on drag strips for years to come. Heavily modified from stock, these motorcycles nevertheless proved reliable, while putting out several multiples of the horsepower they were originally designed to produce. The GS1000 sported a few new ideas, the rear suspension on the EC model and the front forks had the facility of an air valve in which (small) amounts of air could be added to change preload.
We have an original GS 1000 and have aquired the original exhaust to bring it back to showroom condition. Come along and see the bike being restored to it's former glory |
